Glass artist Jack Baker is starting his spring series of glass-blowing classes at his studio, Akron Glass Works, which is near the University of Akron and Don Drumm Studios & Gallery. Beginning next weekend, participants will make stemless drinking glasses, oversized marbles, and holiday pieces: decorative hearts for Valentine's Day and glass flowers for Mother's Day. The samples that Jack brought to the studio are beautiful and intricate looking, but don't worry -- Jack and his team will help you every step of the way to making lovely glass pieces for yourself or someone you love. Steve Tirrell is the owner of Cartridge World, which services printers, copiers, postal meters and even typewriters. His business also cleans and refills printer cartridges. His advice to owners of ink-jet printers includes making sure you use them! Print in color at least every other week to keep the ink from congealing; also, don't turn off your printer because if it's in sleep mode, it will run its own clean-up cycle. Steve has two locations: 1918 Buchholzer Blvd. in Akron behind Men's Wearhouse (330.633.2735) and 4901 Portage St. NW in North Canton in the Drug Mart Plaza (330.305.1424).
